Yesterday's photos (Kyoto temples, big buddha, geisha, bamboo)

To go along with my summary of yesterday... here's some of my fav photos. The rest of yesterday's photos are in this Flickr set, and there's a lot of fun ones!

This is the first site I went to, Sanjusangendo. It houses 100 golden buddhas plus one huge one, so it's really long to fit them all.

Then it was off to Kiyomizu Temple, which was a site to behold, up in those hills. It's hard for me to think of anything but very olden times and what it was like for the people living in Kyoto then. Amazing, I'm sure.

And then, the big buddha at Reizan Kannon. The view coming up the street was the most striking. The buddha itself is quite lovely, just very big!

Then the geisha I saw (all traveling together):

I saw a "geisha" today, but I'm pretty sure it was just some woman who got dressed up. People do that, apparently! But these ladies, the way they carried themselves. I'm pretty sure they were the real thing (or Meiko... in training).

And then my favorite spot in the Kodaiji temple... the bridge:

And finally, maybe my fav shot of the day. The Shoren-in Temple illuminated at night... the bamboo forest, looking up:
